Hey, My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $1,766,700, which is pretty steep. Median household income is $250,001, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 68--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a smaller city city with about 25,104 people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I wrong here? Cheers. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Bought a house here in 2023 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The pet-friendliness is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely underrated and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (West) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Minneapolis about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is challenging.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Happy to answer more specific questions..

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely decent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Downtown) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
