Anyone else feel this way? It's a a smaller city city with about 36,319 people. Poverty rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,480/month for a decent place. Median household income is $150,993, which feels pretty solid for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Austin about 14 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
