Rent in Upper Grand Lagoon getting crazy

So, I'm retired and You can expect to pay around $1,570 for rent here. Poverty rate is 4.3%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Let me know your thoughts. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 7 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in education. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
