Biggest downsides of living in Upper Montclair?
So, Is this normal for Upper Montclair? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Miami about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
