Upper Montclair housing prices -when will it stop?

Longtime lurker here, The median home value here is around $968,200, which is pretty steep. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Is this normal for Upper Montclair? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Austin about 9 years ago. The main reasons were work and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is underrated.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is better than expected in most areas.
