Best kept secrets of Upper Sandusky, OH

Longtime lurker here, I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $72,379 in Upper Sandusky. It's a a small town city with about 6,580 people. You can expect to pay around $754 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Good schools
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- High property taxes
- Boring for young people
- Poor road conditions
- Far from major airports
- Homelessness issues downtown
Has anyone dealt with this? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely pretty good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in The Heights for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- The job market scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..
