Best industries in Urbana right now

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I've been here for 6 years and You can expect to pay around $911 for rent here. Poverty rate is 8.9%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in finance. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.
