Alright, Poverty rate is 8.6%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $135,300 on average. The median home value here is around $135,300, which is actually reasonable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here? Cheers. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much developing but now it's pretty good.

I work in hospitality here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Hope this helps!.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Lakewood for 10 years. Moved from Minneapolis for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is solid - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Homeless population growing downtown. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in North for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- The food scene scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 1 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is underrated in most areas.
