I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Household incomes average around $108,580 in Vacaville. Homes are going for about $596,700 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Am I wrong here? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Tampa about 15 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is challenging.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Highland. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in construction. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
