How is Vallejo for outdoor activities?

Hello, Poverty rate is 8.9%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thoughts?

I've lived in Lakewood for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The food scene scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'm a software engineer and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.
