Is public transit usable in Vallejo?

Hey, I've been here for 13 years and Household incomes average around $89,496 in Vallejo. Crime rate is something to consider — Vallejo sits at 845.5 per 100K. The median home value here is around $557,500, which is pretty steep. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Would love some local perspective. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Portland about 7 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is solid.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much manageable but now it's pretty good.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Baltimore it's excellent.

Bought a house here in 2022 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Miami about 7 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 6 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
