Been meaning to ask this. My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider — Vallejo sits at 845.5 per 100K. Poverty rate is 8.9%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Would love some local perspective. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is excellent in most areas.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.
