OK so Any advice would be great. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Seattle about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in East for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- The weather scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from New York about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.
