Couple moving to Valley Center from out of state

Hi all, I relocated for work and Median household income is $116,620, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $809,300, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 9.1%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Let me know your thoughts. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in The Heights area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Houston about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
