OK so Homes are going for about $296,500 on average. With a population of 2,540, Valley Hill is a small town. Poverty rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The nightlife scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 7 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for school and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The cost of living is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.
