Hello, It's a a small town city with about 10,424 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

The food scene here is improving. Tons of great Vietnamese places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

I've lived in Springfield for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
- The walkability scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Denver about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

- Good schools in most areas
- The housing market scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Atlanta about 8 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
