I'm retired and It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I've lived in Old Town for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
- The job market scene is decent
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
