Pros and cons of Vernal after 5 years

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I've been here for 7 years and Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Vernal sits at 168.2 per 100K. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What do you all think? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely underrated and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Downtown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
