Curious what people think. Household incomes average around $120,625 in Vernon Hills. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Worth the trade-offs? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 13 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Portland it's pretty good.
