Is Vernon worth it salary-wise?

Hey folks, We're a young couple and Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $121,401 in Vernon. Homes are going for about $412,600 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I wrong here? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 4 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 10 years. Moved from Minneapolis for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Can feel isolated. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 6/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The cultural scene is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..
