Hey folks, Poverty rate is 12.8%, which is around average. Rent is about $1,882/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $293,500 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Minneapolis it's solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 13 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Came here for family and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The nightlife is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I work in consulting here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is excellent. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
