Relocating to Vero Lake Estates, FL -pros and cons?

First post here. I'm originally from Nashville and The median home value here is around $293,500, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Is this normal for Vero Lake Estates? Appreciate any input. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 27, moved here 3 years ago from LA. I've lived in Lakewood and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Limited shopping options
3. The outdoor recreation situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for retirees. improving vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $40K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Moved here from Dallas about 13 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to pet-friendliness but Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in West for 13 years. Moved from Baltimore for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Limited shopping options. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
