So, Military spouse here. You can expect to pay around $1,011 for rent here. Rent is about $1,011/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I overthinking this? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The cultural scene is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

I'm a electrician and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely excellent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Downtown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Boston about 13 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. No regrets on my end..
