Pros and cons of Versailles after 14 years

I'm a college student here and Crime rate is something to consider -Versailles sits at 1,794.0 per 100K. Median household income is $42,679, which feels on the lower side for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Pine Hills area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Old Town for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The weather scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 14 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Highland for 13 years. Moved from New York for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Far from beaches/mountains. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
