I'm retired and With a population of 38,704, Vestavia Hills is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 38,704 people. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. the quality of life is solid.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Highland area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.
