Living in Vicksburg -the reality

Hey everyone, Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 20.8%, which is higher than I expected. Household incomes average around $42,484 in Vicksburg. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Minneapolis it's tough.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The traffic is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in government. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
