Is Victoria a good place to live?

Hey, Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thoughts?

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great BBQ places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 24, moved here 8 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Sunset and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Great outdoor activities nearby
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The weather situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for remote workers. average vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 26, moved here 14 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Greenfield and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Growing food and restaurant scene
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The healthcare situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for young professionals. decent vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Moved here from Atlanta about 3 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to weather but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Charlotte it's better than expected.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2018 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- The traffic scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..
