Hey everyone, I've been here for 6 years and Poverty rate is 16.4%, which is higher than I expected. You can expect to pay around $1,568 for rent here. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The dating scene is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 6 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in The Heights for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- The safety scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Austin about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Portland about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..
