Honest thoughts on life in Vienna

Not sure if this has been asked before, but We have two kids and Crime rate is something to consider -Vienna sits at 209.5 per 100K. Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Is this normal for Vienna? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in government. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
