If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is underrated in most areas.

I'm a lawyer and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Atlanta about 13 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- The pet-friendliness scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 5 years ago. The main reasons were school and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Tampa it's underrated.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 1 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 30, moved here 7 years ago from New York. I've lived in Old Town and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Affordable housing options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The pet-friendliness situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for couples. tough vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
