Hello, My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider -Villa Park sits at 68.5 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What would you do? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 3 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I've been here 9 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Westside for 7 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is tough - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Winters are long and cold. And walkability can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
