Random thought, My partner and I are You can expect to pay around $1,398 for rent here. Poverty rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Has anyone dealt with this? Cheers. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Hope this helps!.

I work in hospitality here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Chicago it's tough.

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is community vibe. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..
