Working remotely from Villas

Curious what people think. I'm a remote worker and Rent is about $1,577/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Would love some local perspective. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 38, moved here 1 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Oak Park and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The outdoor recreation situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 4 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..
