Freelancing from Ville Platte -experience?

Longtime lurker here, I'm a college student here and Rent is about $678/month for a decent place. With a population of 6,299, Ville Platte is a small town. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Is this normal for Ville Platte? Appreciate any input.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Greenfield. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in finance. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Midtown for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- The school system scene is decent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Hope this helps!.
