Pros and cons of Vineyard after 7 years

Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $552,400 on average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much competitive but now it's surprisingly good.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The safety is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I work in tech here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is pretty good. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Raleigh about 10 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Springfield. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in engineering. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Maple Ridge area are improving. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Raleigh it's underrated.
