My partner and I are Poverty rate is 23.7%, which is higher than I expected. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What are your go-to spots? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 12 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely pretty good and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (South) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
