First post here. Median household income is $58,542, which feels about average for the area. The median home value here is around $104,800, which is actually reasonable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Should I be concerned? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 3 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 58, moved here 8 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Springfield and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Can feel isolated
3. The walkability situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for couples. decent vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Dallas about 10 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.
