Virginia Beach quality of life — am I missing something?
I'm retired and Homes are going for about $366,300 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Worth the trade-offs? Thanks for reading. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 14 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
