Relocating to Visalia, CA — pros and cons?

Born and raised here. It's a a mid-size city city with about 143K people. You can expect to pay around $1,397 for rent here. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I wrong here? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Used to live on the Highland side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
