Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from San Diego and With a population of 98,646, Vista is a smaller city. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Austin it's surprisingly good.
