I'm a 48-year-old restaurant manager and The unemployment rate is 3.8%, which is pretty low. With a population of 10,617, Waggaman is a small town. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Anyone in a similar situation? Cheers. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I'm a social worker and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 5 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.
