Most overrated things about Waihee-Waiehu

Been meaning to ask this. We have two kids and Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. The median home value here is around $740,300, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $128,266 in Waihee-Waiehu. Median household income is $128,266, which feels pretty solid for the area. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Growing food scene
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Lack of diversity
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Far from major airports
Thanks in advance! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely underrated and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Riverside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
