Planning a move to Waimanalo -neighborhoods?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Crime rate is something to consider -Waimanalo sits at 232.1 per 100K. The median home value here is around $711,800, which is pretty steep. Homes are going for about $711,800 on average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Anyone in a similar situation? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (East) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great sushi places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

I work in finance here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is better than expected. Good luck with whatever you decide..
