How is Waimea CDP (Hawaii County) for outdoor activities?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a 53-year-old mechanic and Rent is about $2,039/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $652,900, which is pretty steep. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from LA about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
