Remote worker thinking about Waimea CDP (Kauai County)

Alright, Been living here since 2005. Homes are going for about $573,900 on average. It's a a small town city with about 2,070 people. Average temperature is around 75--F, so it's warm year-round. Median household income is $87,222, which feels pretty solid for the area. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Does this match your experience? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a real estate agent and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 14 years. Moved from New York for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Dating scene is rough. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The safety is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
