I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Austin about 1 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Downtown for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- The housing market scene is average
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is improving in most areas.
