Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Nashville about 8 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is solid.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is decent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great sushi places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 50, moved here 4 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in South and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The job market situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for remote workers. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
