Is Wake Forest getting better or worse?

I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Household incomes average around $120,777 in Wake Forest. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Worth the trade-offs? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 24, moved here 15 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in The Heights and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The job market situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for young professionals. solid vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much pricey but now it's improving.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Definitely worth checking out..

I work in construction here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
