Things that make Walcott unique

Hey, I'm a teacher here and The median home value here is around $171,800, which is actually reasonable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Worth the trade-offs? Thanks in advance!

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in consulting. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Charlotte about 10 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is average.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
