Hi all, I'm single, late 40s, and Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $1,949/month for a decent place. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Am I wrong here? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Houston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is average.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..
